Old covenant

   название Ветхого Завета. Греческое diatheke (договор) было переведено на латинскую Вульгату как testamentum (завещание, завет). Теологически старый договор, определивший отношения Бога с Израилем как народом Божьим, сопоставляется с новым договором с Богом (Новым Заветом) в Иисусе Христе и подготавливает его (2 Кор. 3:14; Евр. 8:6-7).
